1. The Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association (I.J.B.B.A.) will be
giving an award to members who accumulate the greatest number of points in a
given year in each breed (See rule #3). Breed classes and year-end awards will
only be offered to those breeds, which are paid members of the Iowa Beef Breeds
Council (I.B.B.C.). A show year will run from Winter Expo to Winter Expo.
2. The Iowa Junior Beef Breeds Association (I.J.B.B.A.) will be giving an award
to the Supreme Breeding Heifer Exhibitor and Supreme Market Animal Exhibitor.
This will be based on the number of Supreme titles an exhibitor accumulates
through the show season. Supreme titles will NOT be counted if the exhibitor
does not show their own animal. In case of a tie, the number of Reserve Supreme
titles will determine the winner.
3. I.J.B.B.A. members must exhibit at six shows to receive the year-end awards
presented by the I.J.B.B.A.

The I.J.B.B.A. reserves the right to correct point standings at any time during the
year.
5. When an exhibitor’s animal is named Champion or Reserve Champion of any
breed, he/she will receive the same number of points as were awarded to the
class winner of the largest class within that breed rather than the number of
points for their original class.
• In addition, the breed champion will receive 5 bonus
points and the reserve champion will receive 3 bonus points.
• All Grand & Reserve Grand Champion Breed or Divisions
must stay to participate in the Supreme Champion selection in order
to receive points or premiums.
6. All I.J.B.B.A. sanctioned shows must select a Top 5 for Supreme Champion
Market Animal as well as a Supreme Champion Breeding Heifer.
• The Supreme Champion Market Animal and Breeding
Heifer will each receive the same number of points as the highest points
awarded to the class winner of the largest class
of the day from all breeds. An additional 15 bonus points will also be awarded.
• The Reserve Champion Market Animal and Breeding
Heifer will each receive the same number of points as the highest points
awarded to the class winner of the largest class of the
day from all breeds. An additional 10 bonus points will also be awarded.
• 3rd Supreme will receive an additional 7 points, 4th
Supreme will receive an additional 5 points and 5th Supreme will receive an
additional 3 points.
7. All points recorded in a class are based on the actual number of cattle that
enter the show ring for that particular class.
8. If one person exhibits a large number of cattle, only the two highest placing
animals will be recorded per breed.
9. Sanctioned shows must offer breed classes for steers and heifers regardless
of the number entered. AOB have been eliminated.
10. All exhibitors must be a paid member of the Iowa Junior Beef Breeds
Association. Breed class exhibitors must also belong to their respective Iowa
Junior Breed Association in which they are exhibiting. Breed Associations are
responsible for the collection of state dues from the exhibitor.
11. In each division, the cattle must be entered in the name and shown by the
individual I.J.B.B.A. member for any points to be awarded. Even though a
substitute showman may be granted by the I.J.B.B.A., points will not be awarded
to an exhibitor unless they are in attendance to show their animals or have two
animals in the same class.
12. Exhibitors must meet the age requirements of their respective Junior Breed
Associations. I.J.B.B.A. members cannot have reached their 21st birthday prior
to January 1, 2009.
13. Year end points are calculated by totaling all points earned by an
exhibitor. For example, if an exhibitor has earned breeding heifer points in
Hereford, Angus and Commercial divisions, points earned from each of those
breeds will be added together to determine the exhibitor’s year-end total,
provided they have shown in six or more IJBBA Sanctioned Shows.
14. I.J.B.B.A. sanctioned shows must offer Market Heifer shows. A Champion and
Reserve Champion High Point Market Heifer Award will be given at year-end. All
I.J.B.B.A. sanctioned shows must have a Champion Market Heifer compete against
the steers for a Supreme Market Animal of the show. Year-end over all top
ten-market animals will be selected from both Market Steers and Market Heifer
exhibitors.
15. If an animal is disruptive to its class, it is at the discretion of the
I.J.B.B.A. advisors to dismiss it from that class. If the animal is dismissed
during a championship class, the exhibitor will be disqualified and will lose
only the points acquired in the championship class. The reserve animal will then
move up to compete for champion, and no other animal will replace the reserve.
16. Fall Heifers must be born from 9-1-07 to 12-31-08.
17. Use of hemp hair or other hair-like materials added to the animal’s body
will not be allowed. I.J.B.B.A. does not allow surgical or any other alterations
to the animals such as the use of permanent dyes or paints to alter the animals
original color pattern.
18. All breed associations reserve the right to blood-type/DNA any cattle being
shown within their breed divisions. Request for blood-type/DNA testing can come
from the breed association or the I.J.B.B.A. at any sanctioned show throughout
the year beginning with the Iowa Beef Expo. Should testing reveal that the
animal has been misrepresented on its registration papers, the exhibitor will be
immediately withdrawn from the point program for the remainder of the year and
any points previously earned will be void. This applies both to steers and
heifers.
19. Protests must be filed at the IJBBA Sanctioned Show. Any person wishing to
have an animal inspected is required to submit a written protest and be
accompanied by $100.00. The person placing the protest is responsible for all
costs incurred to verify the protest. Written protest must state plainly the
cause of the complaint and must be filed before the championship drive at the
sanctioned show. If inspection is not sustained, the protest money will be
forfeited. Protests will be handled by the breed association involved, crossbred
protests will be handled by the Executive Director and the IJBBA Advisors.
20. Conduct. Any unsportsmanlike conduct or misrepresentation on the part of an
I.J.B.B.A. member will not be tolerated. All I.J.B.B.A. members are expected to
be cooperative and courteous at all times. Any I.J.B.B.A. member not complying
with this rule is subject to disqualification or any other steps deemed
desirable.
21. Dress Code: All I.J.B.B.A. members must exhibit in a collared/crew neck
shirt with sleeved/short sleeves and the shirt must remain tucked in at ALL
TIMES during exhibition. Any I.J.B.B.A. member not complying with the dress code
will be disqualified.
22. If a sanctioned IJBBA show receives a bad check for an entry fee, IJBBA
requests that show management contact the exhibitor and give them 15 days to
submit a cashiers check/money order or cash to their show for reimbursement of
their entry fee. Show management must also notify an IJBBA Advisor immediately.
This exhibitor will automatically forfeit that days show points. If after one
bad check has been written and not cleared by the exhibitor this exhibitor will
not be allowed to participate in any other IJBBA sanctioned shows for the
remainder of the year. If an exhibitor writes more than 2 bad checks during the
2009 show season, whether they make good on them or not, the exhibitor will be
stripped of all points accumulated for the year along with their IJBBA
membership for 2009.
