Congratulations

On the formation of the MIDWEST SHOW CALF PRODUCERS GROUP

Dear Fellow Show Calf Producers, Promoters and Whom it may Concern.
As several know we were contacted after the selection of the champion cattle at the Iowa State Fair for a contribution to the Midwest Show Producers Promotion Group who helped set new record prices.

This group was formed from an idea that Dick Frye had.  His idea was to raise a record amount of  money for the purchase of the grand champion steer and an ongoing program for future steers.  After discussion with several people in the industry, we chose to support several 4-H exhibitors with the Beef Champions.  We raised enough money for the Champion Steer and the Reserve Champion Steer to bring new record prices.   My goal would be to continue this support group with future contribution growth for the cattle in the final grand drive.  This year is done - we need to work on this now and continue for Fair 2000.  Instead of 36 hours after the champions have been chosen.  

I would hope that everyone could work together in a unified group for this worth while cause.  I would hope whether you produce one or more show calves and/or sell more that one, you will try to help support us with future goals.
I want to thank Dick Frye for this great idea.  Also, Rick Frye, Russ Harkema, Eldon Miller, Mark Core, and the National Livestock Exhibitor, Roland Schumaker with the Show Circuit magazine, Mike Sorenson with Livestock Plus for their generous FREE ads to these money supporters.  And now, to all 4-H exhibitors, I would hope you would continue to support your future state fair sales.

I would hope we can have a meeting at our Winter Beef Expo to start our 2000 State Fair Campaign and all of you supporters will attend and share your ideas and contributions.

I want to congratulate and thank the supporters of the new Midwest Show Calf Producers Promotion Group.  With out your help, new record prices at the Iowa State Fair could not have been acheived.  A list of contributors will be published at a later date.
